What Do Rap Songs and Expensive, Private Schools Have in Common?

As long as you promise to come back and visit, you need to go directly to The Stiletto Mom ( her post called 'Notorious Dad') and watch the funniest you tube rap video from some funny Dads and Moms. Now I'm all rap happy and walking around the house rapping to that song, saying, "who's your Daddy?"

Which is what it's like being an empty nest person. One minute you are getting on the computer to write a little post about expensive private schools for elementary kids and who actually sends their kids to them....and the next minute you're reading someone else's blog and you are stuck in rap world. The first post idea is definitely coming soon, just not today. Because if I were to write the school post now it might come out a little like this: (say it in rap style, y'all)

"Guess who's sending kids to private schools

aren't they 'fraid they'll look like fools

when the media brings attention...

...or that's right, they'll never mention;

that the reason public schools

can't compete with society's rules

that the upper class kids

get the privileges and attention

those poor folks won't get no mention;

But can learnin' the ABC's

be that different, come on please!

You send your little tikes to meet the 'right ones'

And keep them away from those with big guns

Now Chancellor Rhee's got some traction

Her little ones are in public school action

And you know what?....

They know their verbs and their fractions!

We need more good examples

Not just words and.......hypocrisy; (pause)

Now this rap has to end because

its falling really fast

Wish I could making the rhyming last

But I can't!

(but you get what I'm sayin'......don't ya?)

Ha, I saw that video yesterday and it was hilarious. I dunno about private schools but the schools in Tampa aren't the greatest so ask me again when my kids are school aged.

Not bad for a bunch of moms. Very good Beth. I really did laugh. Then again I am a product of public schools, maybe parents should send the kids to private schools so they dont turn out like me.

Gotta wath the video yet, but reminds me; all 3 of our kids had scholarships upon graduation from high school, but for different reasons they all wanted to attend different schools. AND WE LET THEM!

I dunno, DHASH - I attended private schools throughout high school and collge, and look at me! Such a derelict! I haven't really confided my post-pubescent escapades, but I'd put my rap sheet up against yours any day! :) My son has received an excellent education in Scottsdale public schools . . . and I'm glad his exposure to society's 'elite' has been limited. 'Real' is where it's at, Baby!

I like the song, and it's true-- what our public schools need is some good old elbow grease from volunteers, then more money, in that order.

I know my wife (a public school teacher) sure would appreciate it!

hehehe I LOVE HOW SILLY you are beth!

we have no private schools here in singapore but we always love watching american tv shows about rich kids in private schools, like GOSSIP GIRL for example.

I guess its all about rich people letting their children start networking with other resourceful or financially equipped people at a very early age?

=) have a gooood weekend beth!

I loved that video.

Yes, I plug the drains, hang crystals in the windows, and purple ribbons tucked in the furniture. My family thinks I'm nuts.

That was the funniest video I have seen in a while. Sent my daughter to private high school(you know that Scottsdale one) for two years. Our family was miserable. We now have her at a public school(you know the one on Bell and 40) and she is doing better than ever. It was night and day for our family. I went to private schools and loved it, but now I am so happy to see my kids taking advantage of what the pulic schools have to offer.
