Humurous Political Comics and Future Comedians

A little political ranting early on a Sunday morning never hurt anyone, right?  Just keeping it light, though.  Sometimes the political comics that clever people create can really sum it how you really feel about particular issues.  This weekend is no exception.

Take this weekend's comics from FedUpUSA.org with my two favorite selections:


I was hoping to hear from the President this week on his plan for our country in regards to warlike activities we may or may not get into around the world.  I couldn't care less what his NCAA brackets looked like.  I am guessing he wouldn't care about my selections, either.  If I was a mother of a soldier, I would be downright angry.......

From the very beginning, I used to say that Mr. Obama might be a formidable candidate once he had some serious experience behind him.  I knew he was too green a player to be able to properly handle all that would be thrown out at him as President.  But no, we had to elect him because he speaks well (?) and his Father is Black (?).  Well, I couldn't care what color or background a candidate is.  It's not the what's on the outside that is important, it's what you have on the inside.  You know, your brain, your heart and yes, your gut.  The brain and the gut need practical application...ie, experience, to truly be effective. This next comic shows perfectly how I (and now most of the global society) think about our President:

Finally, the best comic of the week isn't a comic at all.  Seriously, it would be hard to think of something so funny than this story and quote from Senator Dodd:

In a bid to stem taxpayer losses for bad loans guaranteed by federal housing agencies Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac, Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn) proposed that borrowers be required to make a 5% down payment in order to qualify.

His proposal was rejected 57-42 on a party-line vote because, as Senator Chris Dodd (D-Conn) explained, "passage of such a requirement would restrict home ownership to only those who can afford it."

Now, THAT IS HYSTERICAL!  People should never own a home that they cannot afford.  And 5% is still such a low number.  I remember my first little house I bought in Minnesota.  We had to put down 20% on a house that costs $57,000 in 1983.  That was the norm back then.  We are so off kilter now.  At least Chris Dodd has a back-up profession when he retires (as a stand-up comedian!) 

If I Cannot Watch Baseball, Then it's Time for a Little Political Ranting

This mood I am in certainly has something to do with the fact that I have a cough and cold and it's time to be getting ready to go to a Chicago Cubs' spring training game!  This would be the perfect day to head out to a game as the skies have finally cleared and the weather would be perfect for a little baseball, except it's not nice to get innocent people sick with your cough and cold.  So, I apologize in advance if this post gets a little cranky in it's presentation!

Everyday I read and read all the commentary on health care reform.  I read "both sides" of the argument and am open to all ideas, even if my own natural tendencies run along the fiscally conservative side. At the end of each day of researching and reading so that I can be informed on the topic, I see some simple truths being distorted, that bug me the most:

• Everyone in America has the same goals, no matter what party affiliation you are loyal to......great quality health care for all Americans.  The only difference is how we think we should get there.   Will the Democrats stop saying Republicans don't care about people and that they are somehow morally corrupt?!!  Thank you.
• The same argument can be said for our kids' education, social security, and a decent quality of life.
• Both large political parties and all the smaller political parties, for that matter, ALL have ideas and a plan to how to get quality health care for everyone, so would people stop saying they don't, for crying out loud?!! Thank you. And the truth is that there are also hundreds of plans presented by businessmen, housewives and students, too.  We are not a nation devoid of ideas.  
• Can we all just accept that the democratic process is sticky and difficult for good and important reasons.  Our own senator, Jon Kyle understands and so do plenty of congressmen on both sides of the aisle. Some of our junior representatives and even our junior President lose sight of this fact....they just don't have the experience, the patience or the knowledge like the "old-timers" do. 
• At the end of the day, one "side" wins out with their plan and it goes into effect.  The good news is, if in fact the plan turns out to be a lousy one or maybe even a catastorous one, the idea will get thrown out, the winning side gets voted out of office and a new and improved idea gets started down the political process.  The only problem?  This process takes a long time, so that's why its worth it to try to pass the best legislation possible (for either side) to allow the plan to achieve.  Would Mr. Obama please stop trying to rush the normal process foir passing decent legislation....(it's only for his own good)?!!  Thank you.
• No matter what's wrong with our current health care system today, we DO have the best quality care for our citizens.  Period.  No other country is better.  Most are envious.  Canadians are constantly crossing the border for loved ones who need quality care that their own Country does not provide.  Can we all stop saying otherwise, (it makes us sound stupid....naive.....ugly)?!! Thank you.

That's all I have to say for now.  The drugs are kicking in to relieve me of this fever, cough and cold.  This is a good thing, as there are only so many days in the month of March, only so many spring training baseball games left!
